Kaifeng, April 8, 2016 - Carolyn Chong (Dean of VU College in Victoria University), Michael Ratcliff (Director of Strategic Development), Rhys Williams (Director of Transnational Education) and George Yue (Transnational Education Program Manager), along with Mr. Sun Chali (Chairman and CEO of China Education International) paid a visit to Henan University. The leadership members of the International Education College (IEC) warmly welcomed the delegation in the Conference Room 302 in the IEC office building. Prof. Zhao Xinshun, Dean of IEC, made a welcome speech and sent greetings to Prof. Peter Dawkins (Vice-Chancellor and President of the Victoria University) on behalf of Prof. Guan Aihe, the Secretary of the Party Committee in Henan University.
The two sides held a one-day meeting. According to the agenda, the meeting mainly focused on three aspects: administrative management, degree courses and English teaching. The two sides reached preliminary consensus on the number of degree courses from the Victoria University taught in Henan University, the number of weeks within one semester when the ELICOS are taught, the date to hold the conference calls, etc. In the end, Prof. Zhao Xinshun summed up the talks and expressed his gratitude to the Victoria University for the detailed and thoughtful schedule on the visit of the delegation of Henan University to the Victoria University. He mentioned that “looking back on what we have discussed today, we can locate the problem, reflect on them and hope for the best in the near future”. Prof. Carolyn Chong thanked the International Education College for the tremendous support, saying that the talks between the two sides were fruitful. In particular, the two sides discussed the relevant issues of the degree courses. On the basis of sincere cooperation, she was looking forward to the positive development of the cooperative education program.
During the visit, the delegation watched the basketball game played by students in the VU Program with great interest. Also, a meeting was held in Conference Room 302, where the delegation met the students who were about to leave for Australia to finish their undergraduate courses. In the meeting, Prof. Rhys Williams, Director of Transnational Education, and George Yue, Transnational Education Program Manager, both delivered cordial and inspiring speeches.
