Kaifeng, April 9, 2016 - during the talks with the VU (Victoria University, Australia) delegation, the award ceremony of “VU English Outstanding Student of the Year” was held at the office 302 of our institute. Two parties of the talks, counselors for class of 2014 and students who would start their study in VU in July this year witnessed this exciting moment.
Carolyn Chong, the Dean of VU college, awarded Shenghuai Qi, a student from class of 2014 and International Economics and Trade major, the “VU English Outstanding Student of the Year”. Rhys Williams, head of the International Department of VU, also sent his congratulations on behalf of their department and welcomed the students who would study in VU in July this year.
According to Tim, the coordinator for VU language teachers, this award goes to one student each year. Nominated by foreign language teachers, nominees need to prepare short videos to introduce themselves and participate in interviews organized by VU teachers, and ultimately one winner is selected. Tim stressed that apart from level of English, the students’ characters and social service experiences were taken into great consideration when choosing the winner. He also said that the award would be very helpful for students to apply for universities or jobs in Australia.
Finally, Shenghuai Qi delivered a warm speech in fluent English, expressing his appreciation to his parents, teachers, friends, Henan University and Victoria University, Australia and showing the good style of students in our college.
